Amador County's New Animal Services Center Opens
If ever there was a facility built by the love of animals, this is it. Floyd Greene plotted out the needs of both groups and Larry White, of Jackson Rancheria Community Development brought a terrific construction crew to make what had been a dream into a reality. Barbara J. Brown, who has been a staunch supporter of A-PAL Humane Society for years, committed to being a facility sponsor for 2016. Speak with Barbara for just a few minutes and you will see her immense love of animals. It is her support that has enabled A-PAL to begin taking in the special needs cats that need their care year-round, year after year.
Wild critters will soon be arriving in another area of the facility, for Tri County Wildlife Care volunteers and staff. A baby bird nursery will be staffed from 7 AM until 7 PM during peak season, and can house as many as 80 birds, all of which need feeding every 30 minutes–all day long.
Volunteers have worked tirelessly to prepare for the care and housing of all of these animals. The walls are decorated with photographs of them, along with the names of the generous sponsors. People wanting to visit are encouraged to call 209-223-0410 (A-PAL) or 209-283-3245 (TCWC).
Words are not sufficient to describe the work and enthusiasm that went into this facility. Awesome? Amazing? Generous? How about LOVE? Every stick of furniture, treatment tables, office furniture, even the crucial washer and dryer were donated and put together by volunteers. Sponsorships and volunteer opportunities are still available. For details, please visit www.pawspartners.org.
