Keeping Them Wild and Free

Quick Tips for Living with Wildlife

Picture

Found a BABY BIRD on the ground?

Does it look okay and not hurt by a cat?

Try to put it back into the nest.

Mama bird will not mind that you touched it

Picture

Birds hitting your windows?

It’s estimated one billion birds in the U.S. die each year from crashing into windows. Put some decals on the glass or close your shades when it’s bright outside. You can also move your feeder to a shadier spot.

Picture

Keep your hummingbird feeder shaded

The nectar stays cooler which slows fermentation. And the red coloring? Don’t use it. It hurts the hummingbirds over time. They’ll find your feeder without it.

Picture

Raccoons are cute

...but don’t touch them or try and bring them home. They have a internal parasite (Baylis Ascaris worm) that is harmful to humans. And they can be really mean!

Picture

Wonder why the person ahead is driving so slowly?

The driver may know where to slow down and be extra alert for deer. Don’t be too quick to pass, and watch out.

If you find an injured owl

CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY at (209)283-3245.

Only permitted rehabilitators can legally transport and keep wildlife and that’s us at Tri County Wildlife Care

Bats should only be watched

Don’t handle or chase them. They’re pretty shy of humans and will usually not attack or fly after you. But, if caught or picked up, they may bite. So just look.
