Missy - Homegrown Feline Therapy
MISSY
left Amador County Animal Control as a small kitten, to go into foster
care with A-PAL. She was adopted through the Feed Barn but returned to
the shelter five years later, when her family moved. MISSY was so
unhappy at the shelter, she was sent to Jeff Holman of the A-PAL
Community Cats program for evaluation and placement. Back to the Feed
Barn she went, hoping for a new home.
She lingered for a couple of weeks before a customer showed up looking for just the right cat for her Mom. The 89-year-old mother had recently lost her beloved cat and had become depressed. She was losing her memory, and her will to live was fading. MISSY seemed to recognize this second chance--she hopped up into the woman's lap and is now enjoying being her companion and best friend. The family tells us the change is amazing. They have their Mom back, all because of the love of a cat. MISSY got that second chance and saved a life, too.
