On Saturday, September 13, A-PAL will hold its annual fund-raising event, BARK in the PARK, at the Italian Picnic Grounds in Sutter Hill. The famous “Mutt Strut” will commence at 9:00AM. Those who haven’t pre-registered for the Strut can do that on-site at 8:30AM. For those who do not participate in the strut, there will be plenty of other entertainment such as the Amador County Sheriff’s Office K-9 demo, Disk Dogs, pet contests, food, and a silent auction. The 'partners' of PawsPartners.org will be at the event, including Amador Shelter Partners, who will be bringing adoptable dogs from the Amador County Animal Control & Adoption Center.

In 1978, a group of animal-loving Amador County residents created A-PAL Humane Society with the goal of promoting the humane treatment of animals in Amador County. - Initiating the Volunteer Program at Animal Control
- Advocating for the requirement that all cats and dogs be spayed or neutered before adoption from the shelter
- Putting into place many creative and effective programs aimed at broadening the number of dogs and cats adopted from our shelter
- Originating programs to reduce euthanasia and heighten the ‘save rate’ of animals taken in to the shelter
