"Tony"
Tony - before his eye surgery
Tony was a sick cat wandering the streets with entropian eyes - lashes turned in to the eyeball - and a severe respiratory infection. He needed eye surgery and antibiotic treatment to save his life. Here he is before the surgery and after with his new family.

SPECIAL GIRLS
A few years ago A-PAL received a call from the Amador County Animal Shelter staff about a special Mom cat. She was found wandering in Highway 49 with 6 kittens and dragging a useless hind leg injured by a gunshot wound.
This beautiful cat was tiny and such a good mother that the shelter was able to give her two more orphaned kittens which she accepted. They knew she had to be helped and that her injured leg would have to be surgically removed.
Dr. Bob Yack accepted the challenge and the surgery was a success. The next step for this precious girl was adoption, so she was transferred to the Feed Barn.
Screening began because this special cat needed a special home. Allan saw this special girl and told his wife, Margot, that he thought they should adopt her.
Allan and Margot had previously owned special needs cats and could provide the perfect home. Lily thrived in their care as a single and inside only cat. She climbed, leaped and ran and defied the limitations of being a three legged cat. She also stole the hearts of all who met her with her curiosity and outgoing nature, greeting everyone at the door.
A year ago, another special cat entered our shelter in the hands of a man who found her with a hind leg tightly wrapped in the corner of a tarp. She was whisked off to Dr. Alison Pillsbury where it was discovered that her hind leg had lost all circulation and needed to be removed.
A-PAL stepped up again to pay for this surgery to save a precious life. A picture of this sweet kitten was sent to Allan and Margot and they decided they wanted to meet her once she went into foster care with Judy for her post surgery recovery.
