DUE TO THE CORONA VIRUS EMERGENCY, THESE CLASSES HAVE BEEN POSTPONED - AND WILL BE RESCHEDULED.
Do you have an interest in helping save wildlife? Tri County Wildlife Care takes in 900 – 1000 critters a year that need your help.
Our songbird nursery is on Ridge Road in Sutter Creek. Volunteers help feed and care for songbirds from the littlest hummingbird to the gorgeous shiny black raven. We ask for a commitment of four hours per week, and more if you like. It is magical to watch a tiny baby bird grow into its adulthood and know that you helped make this happen.

Our Feathers Volunteer Class is DATE IS TBD. We will discuss what is involved in rehabilitation of wildlife, the rules that we must follow dictated by our permit from state and federal wildlife agencies. You will have the opportunity to talk with existing volunteers and hear their stories about working with wildlife. We will also have our Education Ambassadors – Brutus, the Saw Whet Owl and Horace, the American Kestrel, and others for you to see and hear why they are with us and the important work they do.

If you prefer Fur over Feathers, our mammal class is DATE IS TBD. Mammals, including flying squirrels, opossums, foxes and more, are rehabilitated at volunteers’ homes. Existing volunteers can share some great stories. We will again review our permit and what is involved in mammal rehabilitation. Though mammals don’t need to be fed every 15-30 minutes like songbirds, they do require several feedings per day and sometimes during the night. We let you pick the extent of your commitment.
