Love Animals? A-PAL Humane Society needs YOU!
A-PAL Humane Society needs volunteers to help with the following activities:
Adoption Preparation
Volunteers working in adoption preparation use training, socialization and play to help prepare shy and fearful animals for the adoption floor and help them ultimately find a new home. This is an advanced volunteer role open only to volunteers who have been through training.
Adoption Support
Volunteers working in adoption support provide two important roles in helping to fulfill our mission. The first is customer assistance on the adoption floor at The Feed Barn to help potential owners find their fur-ever friend. The second is general animal socialization that helps keep our animals happy, healthy and adoptable.

Kitty Committee
Volunteers working in animal care help fulfill the mission by providing animals with clean, comfortable housing that leads to healthier happier and ultimately more adoptable animals.
Cat Groomer
Volunteers help groom and bathe cats and kittens available for adoption to help keep them healthy and in good appearance for potential adopters. This is an add-on, on-call role for active volunteers.
Community Cats
Volunteers help trap, transport and release sterilized free-roaming cats back to the locations they were trapped as part of our return-to-field program. Volunteers opt in to receive text messages when cats are ready for transport. Call for current availability. 209-223-0410
Dog Walker
Volunteers provide dogs waiting for adoption with needed exercise and socialization. Volunteers walk dogs at the local shelter, Amador County Animal Control. Call for current availability. 209-223-6378
Education Programs Support
Volunteers working in this role assist our education events throughout the year. We work hard to educate on TNR, Community Cats, Pit Bull Bias, and why Spay and Neuter is so important. There are also opportunities for volunteers to get more involved by developing curriculum and planning and preparing fun and educational activities. Call for current availability. 209-223-0410
Foster volunteers
Foster volunteers provide care for animals that are not yet ready for adoption. We have a variety of animals that need foster care including animals too young for adoption, nursing moms, animals needing supportive health care or time to recover after surgery and temporary placements for owners in transition.

Bark in the Park & Whiskers and Wine
A-PAL Humane Society holds fundraising events to help support our operations. The biggest event, Bark in the Park, requires the involvement of new event volunteers. Whiskers and Wine is a dinner and celebration showcasing our accomplishments and programs. A video takes attendees through our progress, as well as an auction and raffle to raise funds for the upcoming year.

Fundraising
We need passionate volunteers to help us fundraise to take care of these animals. We can’t save them all without the charitable donations of our supporters. These funds go towards spay/neuter, vaccinations, medications, food, litter and housing (sometimes our animals stay with us for over a year!). There are many cool ways now to raise funds, whether it’s a go fund me campaign, social media plea or a fundraising brunch you throw with friends and family! If you have a talent in fundraising, advertising or sales and want to help us save them all, we want you!

AMADOR SHELTER PARTNERS is a group of volunteers that work with Amador County at the animal shelter, doing varied activities such as dog walking, socialization, assessment and training; Internet adoption publicity; mobile adoption (taking pets out in front of local businesses); and working with rescue organizations to place homeless animals. Please visit the shelter's page at www.amadorshelter.petfinder.org to find out more about these volunteer needs.
If you would like to volunteer your time to make a difference in the lives of animals, and to help end the needless suffering endured by the unwanted pets born every year, please contact us!
