We are proud to provide an array of programs for Amador County residents, their pets, and domestic animals in need of rescue. These services are meant to not only take care of the basic needs of the animals but also to find them their foster and forever homes. Click any of the links below to learn more.
Save the Kittens
With the help of our amazing fosters, we are able to find homes for more than 300 kittens each year. This program would not be possible without the help of our many volunteers.
NO EXCUSES! Did you know an average female cat can have over 100 kittens in her lifetime? A-PAL has Spay/Neuter programs to help residents of Amador County.
The John Liedl Santa Fund provides funding for lifesaving medical procedures for special needs animals. The Santa Fund has helped many domestic critters get the care they need to live healthy, happy lives and, for many, to find their forever homes.
This program helps ensure feral community cats can be fixed and released rather than euthanized. It has provided a second chance for hundreds of cats to be released back to colonies, adopted into barn homes, and some to be placed inside homes as they weren't really feral.
As of 2023, 414 dogs have completed the second chance program. Once they are in the program, they are evaluated, trained, socialized and adopted to forever homes.
