Thank You - One Bird At A Time
Each bird that arrives for care at TCWC is special, be they drab, brilliantly iridescent or anywhere in between. Our passion is to deliver a positive and healthy outcome to each of these birds but we never thought we were making a difference to the total population. Recently scientists have sadly reported that 1 in 3 birds have VANISHED from North America since 1970. The loss is widespread, especially in migratory birds. Meadowlarks have decreased by 50%, American sparrows by 25% - 750 million gone. Causes are unclear, but habitat loss, killing by cats and collisions with buildings are three major factors. TCWC receives birds for all of those reasons. After this news, our mission is even more important than ever and we are proud that 72% to 79% of our rehabilitated birds survive to be free again. We cannot do this without all of you and your generosity. THANK YOU so much for supporting our work to help the world of birds thrive, one bird at a time.

It’s 2 a.m. on a hot summer’s night. The windows are open to allow any breeze in to cool off the house. Sniff? Sniff? SNIFF! Honey, wake up! We have to close the windows!
