Little Joanie is still looking for her forever home! Twin Cedar K9 Second Chance Program is looking for a forever home for "Joanie". Joanie came to us because she was going absolutely crazy at the shelter. Her name was Sadie then but we soon changed it to Joanie because she is such a comedian and a little bit on the bossy side as well. So Little Joanie Rivers it is! Joanie is about 1 year old and per her Wisdom Panel DNA test she is...basically a Mutt! She has Bulldog, American Staffordshire Terrier, Sheltie, Boxer and Chow Chow. Like we said, she is a mutt! Joanie has been in our program since June 21st and is now ready for adoption. She has very nice on lead obedience and knows how to heel, auto sit, down at the heel position and from 30 feet away, comes when called and knows both finish right and left. Joanie is a very friendly girl who will snuggle all day long if you gave her the chance. She is full of energy and very playful. She gets along with other dogs but has a fairly dominant personality. Joanie would do best in a home where she could get a lot of exercise and of course lots of love! Please give Marge` a call at 209-223-3194 or email at: [email protected]

Twin Cedar K9 Second Chance boy Onyx is looking for his forever home!
Onyx is about 10 months old and what a big goofball he is! Per his Wisdom Panel DNA report, Onyx is a American Staffordshire Terrier/Lab/Golden Retriever cross. Hmmmm... we do not see the Golden Retriever in this big boy. Onyx currently weighs in at about 82 pounds and we do not think he is done growing just yet. He is a very happy boy who has never met a stranger. He just loves everyone and is a very playful dog. He has been kenneled with both male and female dogs and gets along with all of them. Onyx does not know how big and strong he is and he does play on the rough side. Onyx has been introduced to all of his basic on lead obedience and is doing quite well. He knows how to heel on a loose lead, auto sit, down, stay and come. Onyx is neutered, current on all vaccines and on heartworm prevention. If you would like to come out to Twin Cedar Ranch to meet this wonderful boy, please give Marge` a call at 209-223-3194 or send an email: [email protected]
Luke is looking for his forever home!! Twin Cedar K9 would like to introduce you to "Luke"! Luke comes to us from the wonderful people at the Amador County Animal Control and Adoption Center. Luke is about 2 years old and per his Wisdom Panel DNA test, he is a German Shepherd/Cattle Dog cross. Luke is current on all of his vaccines, is neutered and is on heartworm prevention. Luke is very social with adults but we have not had the opportunity to see him with small children. We have not seen any aggressive behavior from Luke towards any people. When Luke first arrived at the ranch his behavior with other male dogs was not exactly stellar! He can be very pushy and dominant when he first meets other dogs especially with other male dogs. Since he has been with us and participating in the weekend group classes, he has shown huge improvement in his behavior with all dogs that he plays with now. Luke is learning all of the basic obedience commands and manners and he is doing very well. It won’t be long before he has mastered it all. Look is housebroken and has very good house manners. Please give Marge` a call if you would like to come out to meet this beautiful boy. 209-223-3194 or [email protected] Rusty is looking for his forever home!! Rusty comes to us from the great folks at the Calaveras Humane Society. Rusty is about 1 year old and per his Wisdom Panel DNA test he is a American Staffordshire Terrier/Australian Shepherd cross. Rusty has been neutered, is current on all of his vaccinations and is on heartworm prevention. Rusty is a very happy go lucky kind of guy who just loves everyone that he meets. He is very playful but affectionate at the same time. Rusty has mastered all of his basic obedience and he gets along with other dogs. Rusty has had two different kennel mates and he has done well but he can be dominant when he is playing. If the other dog tells him to back off he will. Rusty has shared his kennel with male and female dogs. One of our volunteers took Rusty home for an overnight stay to see how he would do in a home setting. She reported that Rusty was perfect! He appears to be housebroken, he did not try to get on any furniture, and he did not beg from the table when they had dinner and breakfast. He slept the entire night on a dog bed on the floor next to the her bed. She stated that he did whine just a bit when she left to go to the store but settled down after a few minutes. Overall, she said he was a very good boy. Please give Marge` a call or send an email if you would like to come out to the ranch to meet this very special boy. 209-223-3194 or [email protected] Twin Cedar K9 proudly presents...The man "Fonzie Fonzarelli". When Fonzie came to us for a temperament test his hair coat was so greasy and with the cocky attitude that he had, his name was instantly changed from Edward to the Fonz! Fonzie was very fearful of people and was very reactive when he was approached or if anyone tried to pick him up. Fonzie is about 8 months old and is a Chihuahua/Terrier mix.
Since our evening pack walks have helped so many shy and fearful dogs get better, poor little Fonzie went on his first pack walk (on lead of course) that very first day! The poor little guy was a bit overwhelmed at first but once he met Yujo ( Second Chance Graduate #200) he found somebody that he could buddy up with. It was very cute watching the two dogs trotting down the path side by side. Yujo weighs about 70 pounds and Fonzie is about 12 pounds! Fonzie has gone on every pack walk since then and boy has he blossomed! He is now going on the walks off lead and has made no effort to run away. He comes every time he is called and he has even played in the water. He and Yujo are quite the pair and it is pure entertainment for all of us humans to watch them play together. In one week Fonzie has gone from a very fearful little dog who didn't want to be handled by anyone to a very affectionate boy who loves everyone he meets!! Fonzie is a little dog with a big dog attitude!! Please give Marge` a call or drop her an email if you would like to come out to the ranch to meet this very special little boy. 209-223-3194 or [email protected] Davey is looking for his forever home! He is currently in the Twin Cedar K9 Second Chance Program. Davey hails from the great people at the Calaveras Humane Society. Davey is just under 2 years of age and looks like he could be a Pointer cross. We have done a DNA test on him but do not have the results back yet. We will update you as soon as we truly know what he is. What we do know is… he is a wonderful, comical, friendly, energetic and fun loving kind of guy!! He seems to get along with everyone he meets, people and dogs alike! We have not tested him with cats but he has not reacted too much when our resident “Cadog”, that would be Gabby our Savannah cat that thinks she is a dog, has crossed his path! Davey is coming along nicely with all of his obedience and he has been introduced to all of the basics. He went on his first pack walk this week but we have not taken him off lead yet. He had a blast playing in the water and running with the pack while he was on a long line. We will be taking him off lead in the next few days! Davey is sharing one of our 100’ X 100’ runs with our Amador girl Fawn and they get along famously! They take turns chasing each other around the kennel and then they rest side by side sharing chew toys or bones. After a short rest, they are right back at a good game of chase! Please give us a call or send an email if you would like to come out to Twin Cedar Ranch to meet this really cool dog! Marge` Blair 209-223-3194 or [email protected] Fawn comes to us from the very kink people at the Amador County Animal Control and Adoption Center. Fawn is a young adult (Vet is guessing she is about 1 year old) German Shepherd mix. Per her DNA test results, she also has English Setter, American Bulldog and Rottweiler mixed in! Fawn is a very pretty girl who got a little carried away with the eye liner!! She is a very friendly girl with all the people she has met. She has beautiful focus on her trainers when she is practicing her obedience lessons and loves to come out and train. Fawn has shared her kennel with other dogs and she has done well but she can be very bossy with her roommates! She loves to play with other dogs but when she first meets a new dog she is very pushy with them. She has never started a fight with any other dogs and when they tell her to back off, she does. Fawns favorite game is chase!! She also has very strong toy drive and has tested very well for search and rescue type work. Fawn will chase cats but it is unknown if she would harm one if she managed to catch one! It probably would be best if she went to a home without cats! Fawn would love to go to a family that would spend time training her and most of all...play with her! She can turn just about anything into a toy to play with! A fenced yard is a must if you would like to adopt Miss Fawn! News flash!!!!! Our wonderful boy Einstein now named Dozer is off to his new home in Shingle Springs. He will have a loving family to provide him with everything he could possibly want or need, 5 fenced acres and a little sister that might eventually let him play with her! Good luck Dozer, you are definitely going to be missed by all of the Twin Cedar Crew and our pack walks will not be the same without you!
Einstein aka Moose comes to us from the wonderful folks at the Calaveras Humane Society. Einstein is probably between 1 and 2 years old and looks like he could be a pure bread American Bulldog. As far as American Bully’s go…he is the nicest one that has ever been through Twin Cedar K9. He is smart, willing, playful, comical, great with all dogs big and small, and he has not met a person that he has not fallen in love with!! We have not tested him with cats yet but our guess is, he would probably chase them.. Einstein has been going on all of our evening pack walks off lead and has done FANTASTIC!!!! He comes every time we have called him and he plays nicely with all of the other dogs on the walk. He even likes little Pippa our little Chihuahua mix that is a Second Chance graduate herself!. Einstein has been working in the group classes on the weekends and is doing quite well with all of his obedience skills. If you are a fan of the bully breed dogs you must come out to meet this awesome boy!! Einstein could fit into just about any lifestyle so if you would like to meet this great dog, give us a call to set up an appointment to come out to meet him. We promise you will not be sorry! Mama originally came to us in March of 2013, she had been rescued by a client of ours that had moved to South Lake Tahoe. The Second Chance Program is for dogs in either the Calaveras or Amador shelters that stand little chance of being adopted due to behavior problems. Once we heard Mama's story we couldn't turn her away.
Mama had been dumped at the 7 Eleven at South shore and left to forage or beg for her food. When I asked how old they thought she was they stated that she was about 7-8 years old and that she was a little on the heavy side! They also said she was very sweet, house broken, loves to ride in cars, great with all people, and good with dogs. When her rescuers called the local animal shelter they stated that they were full and that they would not be able to keep her for very long and that there would be a good chance that she would be euthanized if they surrendered her to them. They advertised her for 10 days, putting flyers up all over town but no one responded to them. Well, how could I say no! I figured with her being a 7-8 year old German Shepherd that sounded like the dream dog of the century, I could find her a home in no time. So down to Twin Cedar Ranch she came. When she got out of the car I could not believe what I saw. She wasn't 7-8 years old but probably closer to 9-11 years old and on top of her advanced age, she was 35 pounds overweight! She looked as big as a house and her back was so broad we could have easily set a place setting for 3 down her back! The first thing we did was to get her into a veterinarian for a full check-up including bloodwork to be sure she was a healthy girl. Her bloodwork came back great, so on the Twin Fast Plan she went. We started her on 3 small meals a day of a grain free kibble, vitamin supplements and a joint supplement for her old and sore joints! Mama started going on out evening pack walks with the rest of the Twin Cedar Pack and when the weather warmed up she stared her swim therapy and Lake Tabeau. Her favorite thing to do there was to swim after the local ducks and chase Vito when he retrieves his tennis balls. It took Mama about four months to shed a whopping 34 pounds!! Although she feels much better without all that extra weight, due to her advanced age and being so fat for most of her life, Mama has significant arthritis in her joints. She also has a sensitive tummy that requires extra care in her feeding schedule. Because of this, Mama will live out the rest of her life with Marge` and Brian at Twin Cedar Ranch. Mama: a rescue of the first order! |
