It's a small world!

It's a world of laughter
A world of tears
It's a world of hopes
And a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all

Song by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman

It has certainly been a couple of years of tears, hopes and fears. It also has been a time of reaching out and showing that it is a small world after all.

Once again, our website has reached across the country, this time to Alabama and the Friends of Bay Minette. They strive to protect and preserve the natural beauty of the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta and build respect for the natural world.

The Friends of Bay Minette believe the community's youth are the future leaders of this world. They encourage youth to learn about the environment and to get involved with conservation efforts. One of the young members, Hailey, suggested learning about identifying birds which brought them to our Gold Country Critter pages. Bald eagles are Hailey's favorite. In her research, she found more information about bald eagles here.

Thank you, Hailey, for your interest in birds and the natural world. We have included a picture of your favorite bird - a young bald eagle we recently rehabilitated and released. And thank you to The Friends of Bay Minette for your efforts to preserve the natural world and encourage young people to be advocates for nature and wildlife.

Helping the Scouts

Educating the public, especially young people, is an integral part of the mission of Tri County Wildlife Care. We make presentations locally to thousands of young people informing them about the value of wildlife. But our reach is more than local.

Through our website, a Boy Scout Troop in Michigan has used our Living Wildlife Friendly section to compile birding guides and activities for parents to use in helping their Boy Scouts earn the Bird Study Merit Badge.

One of the scouts, Sean at the Michigan Crossroads Council of the BSA, found this web page - https://www.austinrealestate.com/fun-facts-about-hummingbirds-in-texas.php - of fascinating facts on hummingbirds. Four hummingbirds we see here in California are mentioned: Anna's are here year-round, Rufous who migrate through early spring and early fall, and black-chinned, and the littlest one, the Calliope.

Thank you to this Boy Scout Troop, Jackie, their assistant troop leader, and the parents for spending time with the boy scouts learning about the birds we share the world with.

Celebrating our Heroes - TCWC

BEEP BEEP!
NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES.  SOME DRIVE CLASSIC CARS.

Tri County Wildlife Care is honored to add the MotherLode Cruisers to the Hall of Heroes at our new Paws Partners Center. There, extraordinary people who support local wildlife in need are recognized with their own dedicated animal-shaped plaque. In this case, of course, the animal of choice could only be a Roadrunner!

Picture
The MLC ‘wild at heart’ car club gifted TCWC with an amazing $5,500 donation from the proceeds of their 2021 Classic Car Show. We are overwhelmed by their generosity and impressed by how many people attend to check out the cars and how much fun the event is!
Over 600 animals have already been in TCWC’s care this year, many of them baby squirrels, foxes and other mammals that drink lots of formula. TCWC has also had 3 eagle patients, one that has needed intensive veterinary care for his wounds. Thank you MLC for helping us help these animals!

Bret Risius and Connie Gonsalves, plus their teams, clearly work hard to hold a successful classic car event to benefit our small community. TCWC is privileged to be a recipient of their success and we salute this group of dedicated car enthusiasts!

    Welcome!

PawsPartners.org is an alliance formed between A-PAL Humane Society of Amador County and Tri County Wildlife Care, the latter serving native wildlife in Amador, Calaveras, and Eastern San Joaquin Counties. Since inception we have added the Shelter Partners volunteer group, who support our local Animal Control organization, and Amador County Animal Response Team (ACART).
