Tri County Wildlife Care Says YES to Success!
The Issue: 250 Tule Elk inside their 2600 acre fenced preserve on the northern end of Tomales Bay DIED between 2012-2014, a loss of nearly 50% of them. The Cause: Rainwater- dependent ponds dried up, leaving the elk with no water and no way out to find water. The Response: WildCare, a sister wildlife rehabilitation group in northern California, gathered 2,618 signatures on a petition to present to Point Reyes National Seashore Park superintendent and ecologists at a meeting to address and solve this issue. TCWC signed the petition in support of the Tule Elk. The Solution: A plan has been put in place by the Point Reyes National Seashore Park personnel to closely monitor the ponds and provide supplemental water as necessary for the elk now and in the future. Thank you WildCare for your efforts and your success and inviting us to help the Tule Elk!
