Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, we are postponing our volunteer classes. We want you to be safe and one of the most effective ways to do that is to practice "social distancing" and limit in-person contact. Our classes put too many people in close contact.
We still plan on opening our baby bird nursery early in May and will need volunteers to supplement our staff to care for the baby birds. We are already receiving squirrels and more mammals will be on the way. Please watch our Facebook page and our Paws Center blog for more information about rescheduled volunteer classes in the coming weeks. If you would like more information about the pandemic, please read this information from the CDC website. Thank you for wanting to make a difference for our wildlife and your understanding during this difficult time.
These birds have a wide range – from Alaska to Nicaragua. Anywhere you find trees and some open areas for foraging, you will likely find these birds. Click the image to learn more!
WE HAVE EXCITING NEWS! TCWC and A-PAL, as paws partners, have taken first steps to provide a FUTURE SAFE HARBOR for animals in need – a place for them to heal and thrive again. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the seller and the Marjorie Strohm estate, both groups jointly purchased an acre parcel on Trade Center Drive in Jackson. The acre is centrally located and adjacent to Jackson Creek Veterinary Clinic. Plans to develop a facility there for small mammal and raptor care as well as for cat recovery are just beginning. As details unfold we will be thrilled to share them. For TCWC, this facility will provide wild animal indoor rehab and recovery, short term outdoor acclimation and then transport for release near where the animal was found. We will be forever grateful to Marjorie Strohm and her daughter Mary Ann. Their love for animals will always be reflected in this project. Huge thanks also to Stan Lukowicz, Catherine Metzger, Tom Blackman, Evelyn Ryan, George Ryan, Kathleen Harmon, Pat Keene, Ciro Toma and Robin Rehart for their kind and gracious help to secure a home for wildlife care for years to come.

TCWC’s eagle swooped down December 18 to draw the lucky winners of the Eagle Flight Drawing Prize. Congratulations to Erika W. & Doug B. and Suzy F.! We hope you enjoy your cooler full of cool things and your eagle boat viewing tour.
Thanks to all for entering the drawing and supporting eagle and raptor rehabilitation. They are such magnificent animals!
From our wet noses to our wagging tails, we thank you from the bottom of our warm and furry hearts for your generous donations on Giving Tuesday! Last year we served 2032 pets with life saving treatments, surgeries and services that were made possible by generous donors like YOU.
We also greatly appreciate our community and matching partners, Amador Community Foundation, Pat Crew, Jackson Rancheria, Ledger Dispatch, Stan Lukowicz and the Highway House for all they do to help us succeed on this Giving Tuesday. We simply could not operate and save the lives of so many animals without such a wonderful and generous community.
“There’s no place like home” said Dorothy and thanks to your extraordinary and amazing generosity, thousands of animals will continue to be released back to their wild homes, healthy and free again! Thank you.
Giving Tuesday 2019 was a soaring success and Tri County Wildlife Care is honored by your support. We are privileged to provide the care wild animals need to thrive again and to teach our community why wildlife is so important to the air, land and water that sustains us all. We also can’t thank the community matching partners enough for the large amount of matching dollars we received. Amador Community Foundation, Pat Crew, the Jackson Rancheria Band of Miwuk Indians, the Ledger Dispatch, Stan Lukowicz and the Highway House Restaurant & Bar give so much to ensure we all succeed on this day and throughout the year. For 25 years, TCWC has been committed to both wildlife and people thriving together. Please don’t hesitate to call us at 209-283-3245 if you need help with your specific wildlife concern.
This very boldly colored bird is one of the most abundant birds in North America - the red-winged blackbird. We have three common blackbirds in this area: the red-winged, a very similar looking tri-colored, and the brewer's blackbird.
